When Problems Disappear and New Ones Reappear
I'm writing this part of the post before I go into the labs:
So, I figured out my problem from yesterday...probably, I have yet to go into the lab to try to fix it because it’s been occupied. But according to this link: https://wiki.unrealengine.com/UE4_Installation_Troubleshooting the problem is the build/version/something of the visual studio.
After getting into the lab:
So before I tried uninstall something, I tried opening UE again, and it worked 😐 No idea why it didn't work yesterday.
- (4:57pm)
- I just spent about 5 min playing with vr editor mode, then 30min trying to get out of it
- Alt + V in case anyone was wondering
- https://forums.unrealengine.com/development-discussion/vr-ar-development/121711-how-to-exit-vr-mode
- Actually, most of my time was spent trying to set up, and see if the controls would work, the headset functions, but the controllers don’t. I think I need to set them up as something, but I need to figure out as what. So, I think I need to watch a tutorial on just making a game in VR UE, to then even set up a sandbox.
- I still want to cry
The Remainder of the Weekend
I don't think I can get the entirety of what I'm being asked done by Monday, but maybe I can if I mentally break it up into chunks.
1) I need a build of UE with VR compatibility that allows the controller movement to move an object in scene. If I can get that, That's good. That means I'll have a script or something to work with to then connect with a live MoCapped human.
2) Connect a live human's movements to an object's movement. I imagine it's super easy, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to conceptualize how this part goes down so it's Pt. 2
Getting Pt. 1 would make me happy to show, so I'll work towards that.
