Presentation 3, But Also a Reflection

So there was no class this week (yay!), so definitely glad I preplanned a meeting with Diefenbach. Sometime over the weekend, I realized that I am very behind, not just on this project, but all my projects. It's not like I haven't noticed I'm not keeping up, it's more that it hit me that I've over stretched myself in terms of the amount of work I'm taking on. I'm taking 19 credits right now. The majority of my course right now have some project element to it, if not intensive reading. And as much as I've tried to combine the work for a few of those projects together, man, do I feel worn out. I don't feel in despair with this current state of affairs. I feel that I've learned my limits on the amount of work I can take without breaking down. Moving forward, I see now that I need to consider scope for classes in a major way. So! Now I need to know what to work on for the final stretch. I haven't felt particularly motivated to work on the V...

Hey! Listen! Rigging!

Finally getting down to looking into relearning rigging. I had learned some for robot theater, but quite frankly, I've forgotten most of it. So! Now I'm going to seriously relearn the concepts. I've been meaning to get better at rigging anyway, I think it'll help me with understanding how MoCap data gets retargeted and how the rig is effected by the MoCap data. At the very least, I can make some sweet custom rigs. Last quarter, a friend recommended this book to me:  Rig it Right!  by Tina O'Hailey. I sought this book out in the hopes of it helping me understand rigging better. I also failed to remember that relearning rigging will take more time than anticipated... but that reflection is for another post! Here's the link to my notes:  Deirdre's Rigging Notes

Actually Looking Into VR! (Deirdre Lazy)

I've realized these past few weeks that I just really, really, don't want to research VR in UE. So Last night I sat down and forced myself to watch a recorded livestream put out by the Unreal Engine Youtube channel. I took notes while watching as well. Pro-tip: watch informational videos on 1.25x or 1.5x speed to save yourself time. It certainly made watching a video that's about an hour long easier to watch (especially since my patience was wearing thin). Link to the video:  VR in UE Link to my notes on the video:  Getting Started With VR in UE Thoughts after watching the video: Even though this video wasn't actually the most basic video I could have started with to begin looking at VR, I did learn quite a bit. There were some terms I wasn't familiar with that I think I should look into to become versed in using UE. Throughout the video Zac Parrish mentioned how Robo Recall did X-thing to optimize performance and such. It got me thinking that I should inv...
